Melbourne cemetery bans dog from visiting late owner's grave

Cemetery bans dog

Granddaughter Danielle had been taking Lola to visit her grandmother's scratch, following her deep congeneric's wishes. When she died, leaving Lola behind, it had been her wish that her granddaughter would bring her beloved dog to visit her.

A fewer weeks ago, when Danielle was fetching Lola to visit her grandmother's remains in the Chapel of Angelica Archangelica Michael Mausoleum at Fawkner Cemetery, a new sign had been erected, banning dogs from entering the mausoleum.

Danielle said that there weren't signs happening the graveyard's other mausoleum, meaning the dog ban was exclusively imposed on her grandmother's mausoleum.

"I made contact with the cemetery and they let me make out that this was because of messiness … and they had complaints astir dogs squirting around at heart the mausoleum," she told Neil Mitchell.

"I've seen else pets in there and they've been on leads.

"My grandma loved her pets and Lola was hers."

Fawkner Monument Mungo Park told 3AW that they were reviewing its dog policy in its mausoleums.
